Book Review: Lyrics of Summer by Tierney Page

Summer and Chase’s story is everything I love about a second chance romance, childhood friendship, undeniable chemistry, years of yearning, heartbreak, sacrifice and two people who never stopped loving each other.

Summer has been through so much and my heart hurt for her throughout. Chase completely stole my heart too, the way he loved Summer, the sacrifices he made and how much he was willing to put on the line for the people he cared about was everything.

Their story spans years and I loved that coming back together didn’t magically fix everything. They both had healing to do, mistakes to face and lives to figure out. Their love felt messy, vulnerable and incredibly real, which made watching them finally find their way back to each other that much more satisfying.

There were moments that made me smile, moments that made me want to scream and moments where I was sobbing.  The friendships and found family were such a beautiful addition too, especially Addie and Chase’s mum.

A beautiful, emotional story about first love, second chances, trauma, healing, sacrifice and finding your way back, not just to the person you love, but to yourself.

This book deals with some heavy and sensitive topics, so definitely check the trigger warnings before reading.

Here’s the synopsis

Some people have a way of feeling like home, no matter how far you’ve run from
them.

With unfinished business and a house full of memories she’d rather leave buried,
Summer Hayes reluctantly returns to her small coastal hometown of Ocean Grove.

What she didn’t expect was Chase Whitmore—the boy next door—to still be there.

Coming home was supposed to be simple. But ten years of silence and distance
haven’t been enough to untangle what was left unfinished between them. And the
longer Summer stays, the harder it becomes to remember why she left in the first
place.

She left to forget her old life.

She came back to find he’d been holding onto it all along.

First love.
Second chances.
One tie that time and distance couldn’t break.
