A Misstep of Fate by Olivia Fenwick is a standalone historical romance.
Matilda and Sebastian have been friends since childhood and wrote to each other constantly while Bash was away at school.
Over time their feelings of friendship have deepened into something more, although they’re yet to admit this to each other. When Tilly and Bash are finally ready to acknowledge their feelings Tilly discovers her father has signed a contract forcing her into an arranged marriage.
A Misstep of fate is reminiscent of Bridgerton with its secrets and societal expectations and I loved Tilly’s rebelliousness and how she wasn’t giving up Bash without a fight.
Beautiful Bash is so dramatic and I love him for it! He refused to give Tilly up and fought to the end to find a way for her to get out of the contract so they could be together.
This was an easy read with main characters that were likeable, a circle of friends I’m hoping get their own books and just the right amount of spice!
– historical romance
– childhood friends to lovers
– arranged marriage
– Bridgerton vibes
– right dress, wrong man

Here’s the synopsis
He waits for her on the edge of ballrooms and in the shadows of parties.
He waits to dance with her, to spin her in his arms, to be the one she laughs and smiles with.
He thinks he is doing the right thing, allowing time to pass them until they are ready.
So he waits.
But it seems he made a misstep.
He’s waited too long, now she’s slipping through his fingers.
Sounds like a fun read.
