Book Review: Chasing Love by Piper Rayne

Chasing Love is the fifth book in the Plain Daisy Ranch series and can be read as a standalone, however I recommend reading Chasing Forever first as there’s a lot of recurring secondary characters that appear in this series.

Bennett and Delaney were high school sweethearts until Delaney moved away, leaving them both heartbroken. Years later Delaney has no choice but to return home after her marriage ended abruptly. Delaney is hoping to avoid Bennett while she’s home because she’s been keeping a secret from him, a daughter he doesn’t even know exists.

Although there was a lot of longing and tension between Bennett and Delaney their reconnection came with past issues they needed to resolve. They had so much history together and as the details of their relationship over the years was revealed their connection to each, no matter how complicated, was evident.

Despite his frustration at missing so many years of Leia’s life Bennett did a great job at building a connection with Leia without pushing her, allowing father and daughter to bond naturally. It was also lovely to see Delaney forge a relationship with Wren, who longed for a mother of her own.

There were obstacles to navigate including miscommunication and forgiveness for past mistakes, but once their issues had been resolved Bennett, Delaney, Wren and Leia were the sweetest family.

Chasing Love is a heartfelt and emotional second chance at love that has banter, chemistry, family bonds and a connection that survived years apart.

– second chance
– workplace romance
– single parent
– it’s always been you

Here’s the synopsis

It was over between Bennett Owens and me—until I had no place to go but back to Willowbrook.

Seven years ago, he walked away, and I built a new life for myself, swearing never to look back. But when my husband is arrested, that life collapses, leaving my daughter and me with nothing but a three-month plan to return to the small ranch town before disappearing again.

Bennett’s a single dad now. Our girls become inseparable on sight, making it impossible to keep him at arm’s length. Especially when I end up working alongside him, where every glance chips away at the walls I’ve built.

The years apart haven’t dulled the pull between us. Bennett remains protective and patient, determined to prove that we deserve a second chance. But he has no idea about the secret I’ve kept since the day he left.

Because once he learns the truth, he may never forgive me. And like it or not, we’ll be bound together forever—by the daughter he never knew was his.
